Parent on Board
It is often said that having a baby (even ones that take cute videos) changes everything. After my first road trip as a parent, “everything” now includes my approach to driving.
Leo Clips
Once again I missed out on videoing Leo on Sunday. If I had really thought about it, I would have filmed thirty seconds of him sleeping in his car seat yesterday as he slept through the entire drive home from our Thanksgiving weekend.
So today, in my limited time with him today after work, I hastily reached for the camera...
Wait, did my boy just say his first word? He's only 11 weeks old!! This kid's a genius! Unfortunately it was not Dad... and it came at a time when I was not giving him my undivided attention. Did he say his first word? I don't know, but he definitely got his point accross.

Dreaming Bigger-er, Part II
This is the second installment of our 43-part series of ideas to improve this blog. We here at the Muted Guerrilla are always trying to improve, although it probably won't be everyday.
I have been thinking a lot about my $100 from Google that I devoted a couple of posts to over the summer. I said I’d put it to a vote on how best to spend that money in a way to improve the blog a bit. With your help, my $100 dollars would soon become $100,000,000,000, and with that money I could create an even better blog.
A vote, however, would be a pure and utter waste, for the fate and well-being of this blog is up to one man and that man is me. That’s right, I am the Big Leader and I have made an executive decision as to how best to spend the money and that is… prepare the angelic voices and heavenly light as you click onward.

Dreaming Bigger
Improving this blog seems like an easy task as there’s nowhere to go but up. I've got a bunch of ideas, so this is the first part of a running series that will have… ummm… 43 parts. It might be best summed up as delusions of grandeur.
I have not been doing a very good job keeping up with my self-indulgence through this blog. This should not be much of a surprise. The blog comes and goes with my interest in finding interest in things that aren’t really interesting. My son Leo has become the star of the show, but while his videos are fun, they were intended to be a weekly supplement to the bustling marketplace of stories and ideas that the Muted Guerrilla will become… at least in my head.
One thing that keeps running through my mind is the ongoing events. I have had the most success with the monthly challenges. The separate blog did not work out but both my Tie-tober event and My Favorite February seemed to be pretty popular, but it is time I start thinking bigger, with events for everyone to participate in and anticipate for eagerly!
My first attempt at this was the First Annual Jack-o-Lantern Competition Extravaganza. It was somewhat of a success, even though I am still haunted by the wild visions that floated through my head. Every good competition needs a prize and I’m disappointed in myself that I did not put something together. Also, there should be a live component to it, with timers and hay bales and live music and apple-bobbing. Next year’s First Annual Jack-o-Lantern Competition Extravaganza is sure to be an unexpected spectacle.
That being said, the competition has a very late entry that is being acknowledged even later. It is in the new vain of pumpkin carving that has become all the rage… I’m going to call it the bas-relief-o-lantern style. (I’m fully aware that my pretentious label could be way off, and if it is than I could very well be hip, once again!) Either way, it could raise the bar for next year’s competition.

Heeeeere's Leo!
I'll write something else eventually, but at least I'm keeping up with Leo. Today was a long day of fun and excitement not captured on film. So here's the boy winding down with a few of the old favorites. Leo, take it away!
Here's another pretty good one from earlier this week...
It is unofficially subtitled "Competing Bald Spots."
Neither one of these videos is particularly cute but as a proud parent they make me beam with pride. In both it seems like he gets what is happening, which is pretty cool.
One of the best daily examples of him getting what is happening is part of his bedtime routine. As he is being turned and twisted into and around a swaddle or two, he listens to a standard lullabye and intently watches four woodland creatures dance through the air. The kid loves his mobile.
I've tried to film it several times but it's always too dark for the video, and if you leave the light on, he'll spot the camera and won't take his eye off it. Here's a picture of it though from tonight.

Another week of Leo
This is quickly becoming the Leo blog... here's today entry in the chronicles of Thirty Seconds with Leo.
Skyp is a crazy beast. Leo got pretty into it today though. Anything that has a picture of himself he seems to really enjoy... I'm not sure where that comes from.

Leo!
Leo is almost two months old and already he can do some pretty cool stuff. Here he is from today doing one of my favorite past times, staring at his hands.
And here's one from Thursday. I'm pretty sure every parent does this at some point and I know that this won't be my last time with Leo. Anyways, this is Leo dancing while I lay down the beats.
That's all for this week... maybe next week he'll decide to grow hair.

Sundays with Leo... on Wednesday
I don't want my Thirty Seconds with Leo posts to stop, and just as important, I want to keep those posts to Sunday only. This week however was a bit odd as we abandoned our freezing house to a home where the heater was working properly.
I took a video of him on Sunday with every intention of putting it online on Sunday night as I was home alone. Unfortunately, I left the camera with my wife and child, and the sole video taken from Sunday has mysteriously disappeared, which is a shame as he was decked out in his Halloween costume.
All that being said, here is another video of my boy. He had just given me his first real laugh and we were trying to recreate it. So, I sound a bit like a crazy person here, but Leo's still pretty cute.
And here's one from earlier where Leo is staring at what has become one of his favorite things in the house... a small tree that nobody really pays any attention to.
